Which division do I register in?

General Information

• 2026 Spring Season is set to start late April and end by mid-July
• Sibling requests will be granted, but other same team requests will not be guaranteed
• We are potentially looking at evaluations and a draft to create teams before the start of the season, but this is highly dependant on floor availability
• Only full-time registered players will be allowed to play on SGBHL teams
• Players must have a minimum of 4 games played to be eligible for playoffs
• The league does have available goalie gear
• League pinnies will be provided
• The league is looking at providing chat groups for each team
• The SGBHL was the first league in Alberta to offer girls ball hockey, and we will offer it to all age groups dependant on registration numbers. In the event that there are not enough players to create four teams, they will be place on coed teams
• We are always in need of head coaches. If you are interested, please indicate this on your child's registration form. You can also reach out to us at sprucegrovebhl@gmail.com. Children of head coaches will receive registration discounts. All coaches must do a background check with the local RCMP.
• Be on the look out for various player and goalie camps that may offered throughout the Spring season
• Competitive divisions will be ONLY for full team registrations in the U9, U11, U13, u15, and U19 divisions
• The SGBHL will be looking to compete at this year's Provincials, Western Challenge Cup, and Nationals. Players looking to compete in these tournaments, and represent the SGBHL, will have an opportunity to tryout and practice together through the season.

U5/U7 divisions

• registration fee - $185 (until Feb 10)/$200 (after Feb 10)
• all skills and experience levels welcome
• minimum of 4 teams per division
• registration closes once teams are full
• 1 preseason practice slot, 10-game regular season, 1-2 playoff games dependent on division
• games will be split-rink
• games will be on Saturdays and/or Sundays

U9/U11/U13/U15/U18

• registration fee - $200 (until Feb 10)/$225 (after Feb 10)
• all skills and experience levels welcome
• minimum of 4 teams per division
• 1 preseason practice slot, 10-game regular season, 1-2 playoff games dependent on division
• games will be full-rink
• games will be on Saturdays and/or Sundays
• competitive division rosters will have a 25-player limit
